Your Health and the Coronavirus

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

Short understanding of the current virus, COVID-19

The illness is caused by the virus “Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2”, also known as “2019 novel Coronavirus (2019-NCOV).” This virus is primarily passed between people via respiratory droplets from cough and sneezes. (CDC 2/11/20)

Classic symptoms include (1) Fever, (2) Dry cough, (3) Fatigue. These are followed by varying degrees of congestion, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache, muscle and joint pain, chills, and vomiting.

Sources state children have a much better symptomatic picture, low complication rate, lower complication, and faster recovery than adults. (CDC 2/11/20)

What to know about this viral infection

First, we want to acknowledge that viruses are a normal part of our lives. We are frequently, if not, constantly exposed to viruses in our everyday lives.

The correct way to “Protect Yourself” from all viruses and COVID-19 virus is unchanged from the advice the majority of us have grown up with most of our lives.

Personal care strategy to protect yourself from COVID-19:

  1. Most importantly, wash your hands with soap and water.

  2. Don’t touch your face, eyes, mouth, and nose. Most masks will not stop the virus, but it will stop your hands from touching your face.

  3. Cover your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze. Cough into your elbow.

Natural Healthcare Advice:

  1. No sugar – Sugar slows down your immune system, making you more susceptible to illness.

  2. Get regular chiropractic adjustments - Research shows up to a 48% boost in your immune system with each adjustment. (Chiro.Res.J. 1994:3(1):32-39).

  3. Get your sleep - The hours before midnight give your body the most benefit. Typically, 8 hours per night is the optimal for sustaining great health.

  4. Drink filtered water - 64 oz. a day minimum. All systems of the body need adequate hydration to work at an optimal level.

  5. Follow your Nutrition Response Testing treatment plan to detox your body and handle any malnutrition causing your immune system to work less than optimal.

  6. Reduce stress - Breathe, socialize, and meet with our health coaches to go over a stress reduction session.

  7. Regular, light exercise - 20 minutes per day.

Office Prevention to Give You a Safe Environment to Build Your Immunity:

  1. We want to see you when you are sick or getting sick. A specific health improvement program will minimize the complications of the illness and speed your healing.

  2. Call ahead and we will have a room specifically for you to go directly into when you arrive. This will allow you to rest immediately and limit exposure to the rest of the office, personnel, and other patients.

  3. Hand sanitizer, DoTerra – “On Guard”, is available to sanitize your hands at any time. This is an alcohol based anti-microbial spray with essential oils that sanitize your hands without drying them out causing you to be more susceptible to infection. Viruses and bacteria can more easily penetrate your dry cracked skin.

  4. Clinic surfaces are cleaned regularly throughout the day with a sanitizer.

  5. Treatment tables have head rest paper changed and tables are sanitized after each patient.

  6. If you have special concerns, please contact our office with your questions

Our goal is to be your health care “Go-To” for optimal immune function. Protective care is the best way to manage your health versus trying to react to a body that has been compromised and now infected.

Remember, it’s not about the bug, it’s all about your immunity. Strong immune systems protect and respond to a “bug” challenge. Weak immune systems succumb and fall to a bug challenge. You have a choice.
